The Story So Far

Finnies is a Scottish, family-owned jeweller that’s been in business for a remarkable 65 years. In 2021, they appointed us to move them over to Shopify and give them a website worthy of their beautiful hand-picked products and the warm customer service they’re so well known for.

The Challenge

They were in need of a new CMS, SEO and Google Analytics support, content migration of their blog and a much better back-end experience for their team (they were struggling on their old platform - VisualSoft). The site also had to deliver a luxurious look and feel, make searching for products simple and create opportunities for lots of brand storytelling. Most importantly, it had to set them on a path to doubling their online revenue.

Unified Approach

We re-platformed Finnies to Shopify, but using our own specially built theme, Origin. Built by the best e-commerce designers in the industry, using the latest technology, Origin gives our clients’ customers one-of-a-kind brand and user experiences. For Finnies, the flexibility of Shopify and Origin meant we could recreate the personalised experience their customers get in store, adding thoughtful features like a WhatsApp button for example. We also built a super sleek filter solution coupled with great search, so customers are served the perfect results every time.

To present their vast product data in a clear and intuitive way, we designed a whole new menu and category structure, and integrated a new ERP system so that product data flows beautifully between the front end and their warehouse.

Finally, as well as replicating that famous Finnies customer service with clever tools and technical solutions, we delivered a design that strikes just the right balance between luxury and approachability. Along with a brand new photography style guide and specialist consultancy to start them on the journey of re-imagining all of their product assets.

Re-platforming to Shopify using Unified's Origin framework

    Combining personal touches with a luxurious feel
    For Finnies, the flexibility of Shopify and Origin allowed us to recreate online the personalised experience their customers get in store, even adding features like a WhatsApp button so sales assistants can immediately welcome and serve online customers. To make the whole customer journey that bit smoother, we built a super sleek filter solution coupled with great search, bringing up the perfect selection to customers every time and sparing them lots of scrolling!

To make sure the look and feel we created would flow through everything, we created a brand-new photography style guide and provided specialist consultancy and on-site photograhy shoot guidance to start them on the journey of re-imagining all of their product assets.

Website launched Summer 2022
